I decided to re-visit “Nearer, My God, To Thee” and do a solo version. The accompaniment is nearly the same as the choir version, but I did a little more experimentation on the melody for the vocal line. I generally don’t stray much from the original melody of a song in an effort to keep the spirit of it, but I think these variations still keep the reverence and spirit of the original hymn melody.
