I decided to revisit my choir arrangement of “Be Still My Soul” and add a new ending. It seemed to end a little abruptly so I added a proper ending. Nothing else was changed except cleaning up some markings in the score. The original score is also still available.

I first heard this song when the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sang it in general conference some time back. They sang it again at the funeral for President Monson, and it was then that I knew I had to do an arrangement of it. I had to do some digging to find the hymn, and I finally found it in a book of church songs from 1918 called “Songs of Zion.” “If the Way be Full of Trial, Weary Not!” can be found in the Choir Arrangements section.

This is a first for me. “That Sacred Night” is an original Christmas hymn written and composed by myself. The words and meter started coming to me on an evening during the 2017 Christmas season. Once I had the text, I sat at my piano and worked out a melody that seemed to fit, then I fleshed out the harmony over the next few days. It can be found in the Choir Arrangements section. Enjoy.

I decided to re-visit “Nearer, My God, To Thee” and do a solo version. The accompaniment is nearly the same as the choir version, but I did a little more experimentation on the melody for the vocal line. I generally don’t stray much from the original melody of a song in an effort to keep the spirit of it, but I think these variations still keep the reverence and spirit of the original hymn melody. I just posted a new arrangement of “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day” in the choir section. I have always liked the message of this song that “…God is not dead nor doth he sleep.” I am posting well before the Christmas season in case anyone would like to use it.

Yes, I have officially gone international. No, Im not moving to France, but on June 26th, my arrangement of “Amazing Grace” was performed at a small concert in near Torcy, outside of Paris. I was quite surprised when someone contacted me by email asking permission to use my arrangement. Of course I gave the go ahead and asked where the piece would be performed. I was even more surprised when the reply came that they were in France...

I have posted a slightly revised version of “Nearer, My God, to Thee.” I have changed some eighth notes to quarter notes in some transitions for a better flow. My choir accompanist was playing them that way, and I thought it sounded better, so I made the minor changes.
